PARTNERSHIP TRAINING IN THE NEW CISCE CURRICULUM

Training is needed in the transactional processes to cover key concept areas and themes and on the effective use of learning resources to get the learning outcomes that are defined in a broader way in the CISCE curriculum than just textbook knowledge.

TRAINING IN THE NEW CISCE CURRICULUM

The need & significance of each subject area and approach to its teaching

Learning outcomes for each theme leading to knowledge, comprehension, skills, attitudes & values.

Theme-wise key concepts & areas.

Transactional processes including individual, small, large group activities, observation, discussion, experimentation, classification, project work, written, oral and aural work, adapted according to children’s needs and contexts

Learning resources for each theme area such as concrete objects, teaching aids, demonstration material, work by the children itself, worksheets, adapted and expanded as needed.

Integration of themes, helping children see linkages across different curricular areas.

Life skills according to each theme including the ability to question, analyse, investigate, think critically, solve problems and interact effectively with others.

CHILD-CENTRIC EDISON EDUCATION

BEYOND ‘TRAINING’ TO ‘TRANSFORMATION’ IN TEACHING PRACTICE

Teacher planners save time and improve effectiveness of implementation.

Each unit / theme in the study materials begins with a teacher / parent page that serves as a reminder and ready reference.

A process of perfection provides guiding principles of effective transactions and mastery.

Teachers are encouraged to use their own creative ideas while those ideas provided on teacher pages act as a point of departure, and motivate a teacher to try out new processes.

Teachers are appreciated and supported in their journey towards highquality professional development.

Support materials for transacting learning are either provided or a list is provided to the schools for them to procure, so that there are no barriers to effective implementation.

Pedagogical partnership ensures a longer term commitment to change and to professional development, ‘stickiness’ and effectiveness in reaching the objectives of the CISCE curriculum.

EDISON EDUCATION ADVANTAGE

Teachers become facilitators of learning.

Teacher creativity explodes.

Activities on teacher pages inside student’s textbooks create transparency and greater accountability.

Parents conduct many of the same activities at home since activities are readily available to them through the study materials

“No school can outperform the quality of its teachers.”
